On the third week of September, Academic Department conducted WOODY for students of 2014 and for students of 2015 and Discussion for all ED students.

On Tuesday, September 15th 2015, Woody was held for students of 2014 at 120 room. 16 students attended Woody. We started from 16.45, learned and discussed English Morphology and Syntax, mentored by great tutor Kak Maria Magdalena (2012). In the beginning, we reviewed and discussed the definition of morphology and syntax, what is word, free form, non-free form, base, root, morpheme, morph, free morpheme, bound morpheme, inflectional morpheme, derivational morpheme, affixes (preffix and suffix) etc. Next, we went to further material "Hierarchical Structure". We were given some exercises right after she explained how to analyse word's hierarchical structure. In the middle of our confusion, she reminded us the charateristic of knowing a word. When we know a word, it means that we know 1) its meaning 2) its spelling 3) its pronunciation 4) its lexical category and 5) its appropriateness. In the end, we continued exercising and got correction from Kak Maria. On Thursday, September 17th 2015, there was a very first WOODY for ED new students. There were 9 participants attending Woody at 120 Room. Mentored by Lula dan Faisal (ED 2014), we discussed Introduction to Language. The first material was about what is language, branches of language (Phonology, Morphology, Syntax, Semantic, Pragmatic), the function of language, arbitrary, what is the difference between human language and animal language (duality, replacement, pattern, productivity/creativity, etc). In the end, participant asked for further explanation about syntax. Woody ended at 18.00 WIB.
